mooooving on!

Well, in the past three days I think I've cried enough to fill up the Nile in a drought. Currently, I am waiting in the Madrid-Barajas airport for a flight at 8:15 PM to Dublin (don't get jealous, it's not as fun as it sounds) from Spain. Oh man, how I didn't want to leave Sevilla. My stomach has been hurting for the past week with the amount that I didn't want to leave.
But alas, I've said my "hasta luegos" and hope that they aren't empty promises of later returns. What a family I have there :). It's not as hard as it could be, though--I've traveled so much this semester so other than having 3 bags worth of stuff instead of one bookbag, it kind of just feels like I'm going on another weekend trip, only this time I'm alone. At least that's what I am telling myself. I'm trying to save every memory I have of the past 4 months--locked and guarded and replayed every chance I get.
How about this: on the train to Madrid, I was inspired by a cartoon. Yeah, a Disney cartoon (at least it was Disney). The movie they played was "Meet the Robinsons" or something like that. The slogan of the movie was "Always move forward" and so that's what I'm gonna do. Once I start myself on thinking on Sevilla and my family and every, every, everything there, I get a little torn up about how it's over. So I decided I had to stop thinking about it like that and start thinking about all that's happened and how I'm going to freakin' IRELAND, man!! whooo!!

PLUS, MOM AND DAD ARE COMING!!!! Dad sent me the details on their booked flight. Ohh man, I cannot even express to you how excited I am to get to see them so soon. On Sunday, June 15th, at 5:15 AM, I might just explode from happiness--I think I will be on overload because I'm already at the top of being content :). So less than one month. One short little baby, itty bitty, tiny month!

A few things I've discovered while in Spain: there's no rush; evenly paved roads are overrated; you can make a sandwich out of anything. literally, bread and anything; Spanish is the coolest language ever; and also, that my life is a whirlwind.

poco tiempo

Last night was the last night here for one of my friends. She’s leaving today. It made me realize how close we really are to another change. 17 short days have I left in Sevilla. 2 weeks and 3 days. And after? Another change. This is my life: changing. Wait, isn’t that a David Bowie song? I won’t lie, I’m excited! But… also nervous. I guess that comes with it though, right? Well, I’ve made it this far.

Man, I think I have changed so much in these past few months. The Spanish priorities just seem to make so much sense. What is important for them is not boring meetings where over-the-hill-aging and balding men drone on about last quarter’s returns, nor the higher paying, but higher stress job. What is important for these people is, well, people. It’s so much more important, if you see someone in the street, to stop and talk than to rush off to something lame and unexciting. They never stop talking, either. It doesn’t matter if they know what they’re talking about or not—as long as words are coming out of their mouths, they’re satisfied. I hope that when I get back to school, these things will also be more important to me. My friends, and my family are what are important. Getting my work done, too, but not in a manner that I am going to die from stress. That’s just no way to live your life. Right?

I do miss those mountains, though. And all that comes with them and with Boone and my school and friends and Hollis and my family and my home. It’s a different kind of miss, now, though. A few months ago it was: I wouldn’t mind to go home. Now, it’s a miss that I know I will soon fulfill, but at the same time, I’m trying to get all I possibly can from what is Sevilla. Life is a crazy thing, always keeping you on your toes. Maybe it’s because I’m a girl and my emotions change as often as a newborn’s diaper. But I think it’s normal :o).

God, how I dread leaving. There’s so much left here to see and do and get used to and laugh at and contemplate and love and grow to understand. 4 months is not enough time at all.
